Mere courage and collaboration between our regular citizenry – the medical professionals, researchers and scientists — is insufficient by itself to combat a pandemic such as COVID-19. It is equally important that our governments take quick and robust decisions and implement effective policies.

Building new hospitals or shelters alone (to treat COVID-19-infected people) is not adequate. It will also need to be complemented by community strategies, such as limiting group activities, and personal hygiene practices.

What we can do at this moment (COVID-19 outbreak) is gain a scientific understanding of the disease and protect ourselves. Wear a mask when you go out.

Panic will build until we all care enough.

Once we all care enough, we will beat the virus.

We must come to the table knowing that there is no barangay, city, province, government, or country that can solve the COVID-19 crisis alone. More than ever, human collectivism is key. We have prepared for wars even before they happened. Maybe this time, we ought to work together, collectively and purposively, regardless of race, ethnicity, political affiliation, and religion, in finding a solution to a threat that has shaken our very definition of civilization.

We all need to stand in solidarity with those least able to protect themselves from #COVID19.This is not only the right thing to do -- it is the only way we will overcome this crisis.

Well, our hearts go out to everyone. We need to move aggressively to make sure that every person in this country who has the virus, who thinks they have the virus, understands they get all the health care that they need, because they are Americans, that we move aggressively to make sure that the test kits are out there, that the ventilators are out there, that the ICU units are out there, that the medical personnel are out there. But, Jake, if I might also say, that in this moment of economic uncertainty, in addition to the coronavirus, it is time to ask how we get to where we are, not only our lack of preparation for the virus, but how we end up with an economy where so many of our people are hurting at a time of massive income and wealth inequality. It is time to ask this -- the question of where the power is in America. Who owns the media? Who owns the economy? Who owns the legislative process? Why do we give tax breaks to billionaires and not raise the minimum wage? Why do we pump up the oil industry while a half-a- million people are homeless in America? This is a time to move aggressively, dealing with the coronavirus crisis, to deal with the economic fallout. But it's also a time to rethink America and create a country where we care about each other rather than a nation of greed and corruption, which is what is taking place among the corporate elite.

There are two keys to tackling the (COVID-19) epidemic: early detection and early isolation. They are the most primitive and most effective methods.

So, we really do not want this second wave of COVID-19 to come back, because we don't really know how strong it is. Stopping the second wave really is in our hands. We can make a huge difference by conducting ourselves properly, in a way that prevents the spread of the virus."

In a pandemic, you don't have time to wait. You have to take action to help people. We haven't been able to be as nimble as we've needed to be
