To be right is more honorable than to be law abiding.

Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular.

Doing the right thing is more important than doing the thing right.

Because it is the right thing to do - not just politically but morally,

I am not paying taxes because the overwhelming percentage of the budget goes for war purposes. I do not wish to participate in any phase of the collection of such taxes. I do not even want to act as if I think that anyone, including the government, has a right to punish me for an act which I consider honorable.

You don't do the right thing because it's easy. You do it because it is right.

I am writing this preliminary statement of my reasons for not paying taxes ahead of time, as I was recently informed by your office that I would be imprisoned for my constant refusal to pay taxes. Upon my arrest I will give you the correct report of my earnings to date in 1948. My belief in the iniquity of government, which exists primarily to wage war, has been stated this last six years in my statement to your department when I refused to pay any tax, and also in articles in the Catholic Worker.

I would rather go out of politics having the feeling that I had done what was right than stay in with the approval of all men, knowing in my heart that I have acted as I ought not to.

Do what is right, not what you think the high headquarters wants or what you think will make you look good.

We're not doing what we do because of sanctions. We're doing what we do because we believe it is right.

There are some moral principles more important to me than economics. I am against racial discrimination. I am against privilege. I am for the sovereign independence of this country and for the unity of the Commonwealth. Labour does not help me on any of these.

Try to do the right thing because it is right.

My basic principle is that you don't make decisions because they are easy; you don't make them because they are cheap; you don't make them because they're popular; you make them because they're right

What you say 'no' to is more important than what you say 'yes' to.
