Change comes from power, and power comes from organization. In order to act, people must get together.

I believe that when we work together, we are powerful and better able to effect change.

Once I found an issue enough people cared about, I could take them into action. With enough actions, I could start to build power.

We won't have power if we don't have intergenerational power. That's not just rhetoric. We can solve problems when we're together.

It is imperative for us to come together to pull our resources, share knowledge and innovate for a sustainable future.

I will admit that we are attracted to issues that unify people rather than divide them.

what I want us to get to is — and you already do it, but we need more, more folk to be intentional and inclusive in our movement building and our coalition building and the breaking down of silos and of challenging folk to have equitable outrage.

We urgently need the mechanisms to deal with differences as they emerge because we want to progress together. Today we must start to resolve to make a difference, individually, as families and communities and we cannot do this alone as we need others and more importantly the wisdom and divine intervention in our affairs.

It's not just about, you know, sort of putting "diverse people" in the same sort of corrupt systems. We have to change the way that power works. And so much of that is about, I believe, changing the material conditions of poor and working people, the people who are the most marginalized, and to get them, you know, opportunities to work in the industry behind the scenes, and then be truly elevated to positions of power.

None of these challenges can be solved quickly or easily. But all of them demand that we listen to one another and work together; that we focus on our common interests, not on occasional differences; and that we reaffirm our shared values, which are stronger than any force that could drive us apart. That is the work that we must carry on.

In short, as critical as it is for us to speak up as individuals, our real power emerges when we act collectively.
