And I got some other producers I’m working with right now. I got YK 808, I got Deedotwill, I got other up-and-coming artists. I stay working with different people. I like overlapping and vibing with different producers, and that’s just how I’ve always been, man. Even when I was with Three 6 Mafia. I used to always just search for new talent and work with new talented people. I just think that’s what it is. I love making music. I don’t like to stay in the same place -- I’m not that type of person. But I still keep my roots. I still keep my sound.

I am constantly creating, I write, I paint, I also have my own production company and have two television shows I have in development, and hope to get made soon

The new music I have coming, I’ve been working on. All my fans know and they are waiting so patiently or impatiently actually. Its kind of an never-ending process really. I continue to grow each and every day as a write and as a person. There’s more that I want to talk about. There’s more that I am comfortable talking about. I’m constantly being inspired by new artists and producers. I’m definitely taking my time with this.

I co-wrote all the songs on my album, and co-produced a lot of them as well, So being involved in the creative aspect and not just singing is so important to me because, above everything, I love to create and I love to express myself."

I'm a writer who performs. And I mean, I'm basically a writer. I've been doing it since I was 16. … For me, the balance between the two, the writing -- a year, two years, whatever it takes to do an album, and then you've had enough of writing and thinking and being introspective and all of that kind of stuff, and you want to get out on the road and you want to, you know, get into the physicality of performing.

I haven’t had any down time, my last album just came out the end of last year so that wasn’t even 6 months ago the album that I did with Yelawolf, the Yots (Year Of The Six) Pt. 2 album. I didn’t go straight into this project I went straight into producing projects for some other people. Stuff for Riff Raff, stuff for Jon Connor, Dr. Dre’s new artist, some stuff for my new artist Weirdo Westwood King and a lot of other people, then I just decided to go into my project. Actually, some fans decided it for me, I wasn’t even going to make a rap project this year, I had been writing EDM songs for a lot of kids. I got about four of those that’s coming out, one of them already came out with this guy named Kennedy Jones, it’s called “Never Not.” So I had been writing these EDM songs for these kids and I was just going to stick to that because that’s fun and easier, but all the fans were like “Ahh man you should bring out that straight underground shit man a Volume 17 for Summer 17. They kind of talked me into doing it. So I was like well yeah it’s time to bring it back at least before I take a break on it and go straight to producing other folks for a minute, in 1/2 year or a year I should at least hit them with some straight underground joints to hold them off for a minute. My last album wasn’t straight underground joints it had all kind of stuff on it because it came out through me and Yelawolf.

I'm a songwriter first, have always been, and probably always will be. Making the demo is a natural product of writing a song; after that, I'm happy to hear other people do it in other ways.

I want to make films and write films, which will happen, I'm just taking a different route right now. I'm a bit of a chameleon with the whole entertainment industry so to speak.

Yeah, I've been writing a bunch of new stuff, but it's all secret. In fact, I may or may not have been writing stuff this entire interview.

I'm a writer. I've written most of the music we've performed. Most people don't know that because no one cares who writes the music. But, that's who I am. I've written poetry since I was a little girl. Music was an evolution of that.

I’ve been producing behind the scenes for a little while now, so that has always been part of my brain and process. If I can add value and be integral in a project or an experience, I definitely love producing. But now that I’ve directed, I look forward to new opportunities to get to do it again. We’ll see what comes next. I definitely look forward to doing it again, for sure.

I think when I write for other people it’s much more playful. We laugh much more and it’s like putting on a costume and I’m much more free. I do quite little of it, I tend to write something and go ‘mine’ and I guess also because sometimes I would have to have somebody in mind to write for because I have a funny way of phrasing things and the songs are often quite subtle but they can be very hard to sing and I really love that. I tend to just own things for myself but if I get asked to write I’ll do it!”

That's very good. And let me add one more thing, that in all my musical releases, I write, compose and arrange my own music, I just get the lyrics from someone else.

I wrote a pilot for a show that was based on my work. I wrote an original pilot for a limited series that is still out there being shopped around. … What I felt writing scripts is, I really like it. It's very interesting and sort of technical-feeling compared to writing novels. And I will continue to do it because it's a nice break between books, and it kind of can pay … to get a new stove in your kitchen, like there's actual financial benefits to doing it. But I think my soul is in the page and in writing novels. Being in control of the entire universe that I'm writing is really what feeds me on a much deeper level. And so I will never kind of fully abandon the written word. It just feeds me in a whole other way, but unfortunately doesn't literally feed me or my children.
