As you may know, for a district to achieve meaningful socio-economic development, it is essential to provide infrastructure such as roads for the transportation of goods, services, and people.

I call for the provision of infrastructure such as roads and electricity as well as providing the youth with managerial and entrepreneurial skills to thrive.

Uganda needs an effective and efficient infrastructure to support economic growth, poverty eradication, social development and competition in the global market. As you very well know, no economy of a country can stand without proper infrastructure.

Roads are the blood vessels of the economy.

When you talk about the plan, the first question most investors ask is how easy it will be to access good roads, sewage system, electricity and water.

Some of the projects involve energy, mining, and various infrastructure developments, including the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road, the Beitbridge-Harare Road, and the construction of Marovanyati and Muchekeranwa Dams, among many others. These initiatives are part of our goal to become an economically empowered upper-middle-income society by 2030.

As the MP for Kasempa, my goal through advocacy and lobbying is to push the Government to prioritize and deliver on crucial infrastructure projects, such as upgrading the Kasempa–Kaoma and Kasempa–Mumbwa roads to bitumen standards. This aligns with the Government's assurances under the Link Zambia initiative.

Fifth, we must fast track our infrastructure development.

Good roads, canals, and navigable rivers, by diminishing the expense of carriage, put the remote parts of a country more nearly upon a level with those in the neighborhood of the town. They are, upon that account, the greatest of all improvements. They encourage the cultivation of the remote, which must always be the most extensive circle of the country. They are advantageous to the town, by breaking down the monopoly of the country in its neighborhood. They are advantageous, even to that part of the country. Though they introduce some rival commodities into the old market, they open many new markets to its produce. Monopoly, besides, is a great enemy to good management, which can never be universally established, but in consequence of that free and universal competition, which forces every body to have recourse to it for the sake of self-defence. It is not more than fifty years ago that some of the counties in the neighborhood of London petitioned the parliament against the extension of the turnpike roads into the remoter counties. Those remoter counties, they pretended, from the cheapness of labor, would be able to sell their grass and corn cheaper in the London market than themselves, and they would thereby reduce their rents, and ruin their cultivation. Their rents, however, have risen, and their cultivation has been improved since that time.

The more transport infrastructure we provide the more efficient the economy becomes, resulting in more business opportunities.

We have spoken about building a program of employability with care. We must care for and restore our rivers, soils, rural and urban ecosystems, and care for people, children, and the elderly. Our economy is based on care, but we need to have the infrastructure for it; gardens, schools, colleges, parks, and sports arenas for children and recreational areas for the elderly population.

Land and water management should be given ‘Number One' priority for achieving evergreen revolution. No less important is to achieve the utmost efficiency in investment as well as in the use of water.

In terms of economic achievements we still need better results - still unemployment and poverty is a main concern for the government of Mongolia, so we have to focus now more on economic development issues.

Aside from pump priming our economy, we would be bringing down the cost of transportation and opening up those areas of our country which have not been developed.
