Sin is anti-will to God's will; it sets itself to oppose preaching, prayer, and all the institutions of God.

It is not lawful for you to make a compromise with God: to try to fulfill part of your duties and to omit others at your own pleasure.

In church I was told that if I so much as smoked a cigarette or tasted alcohol, I’d be damned in hell for all eternity[...]it didn’t take long for me to start thinking that sounded all wrong [...]I didn’t cotton to the idea that your religion should be flaunted to other people. Your religion is for you, and is best kept close to your heart.

Discouraging smoking and drinking is a left ideal.

It is against the will of God to eat delicate food hastily, to pass gorgeous views hurriedly, to express deep sentiments superficially, to pass a beautiful day steeped in food and drinks, and to enjoy your wealth steeped in luxuries.

Almost always they answer god or booze. One I don’t tolerate. The other, I’m told, doesn’t tolerate me.

I feel that segregation is totally unchristian, and that it is against everything the Christian religion stands for.

It is becoming impossible for those who mix at all with their fellow-men to believe that the grace of God is distributed denominationally.

It’s not enough that the public should be informed about the hazards of smoking; a warning has to be stamped on every package of cigarettes. Then cigarette advertising has to be restricted if not banned. The activists will never be satisfied until tobacco is outlawed, and after that it will be alcohol, then junk food, etc.

Religious law makes it illegal for the ignorant to drink wine, but intelligence makes it legal for the intellectual.

...those who say I am being punished are saying that god can't think of anything more vengeful than cancer for a heavy smoker.

All of you please avoid smoking, drinking habits as venomous things. By keeping away from them you will be happy and healthy.

Let us never suppose that the structures of our human minds can contain God.
