We’ve created these categories that divide us as humans, and in doing that, we miss each other. I want to bring people together and remind everyone that they have permission to know themselves and others beyond labels.

We need to eliminate the concept of division by class, skills, race, income, religion, and nationality. Every human requires food and water to survive and every human has a heart that bleeds, loves, and grieves.

To become different from what we are, we must have some awareness of what we are.

Everyone must remove differences/distinctions from their hearts. There must be more stress on unity. (...)

Let us not focus on our political party affiliations but on the well-being of our people. Let’s not be divided through political party lines,”

Stop comparing yourself to everyone else around you.

We have to stop thinking in oppositional categories. We have to stop thinking that one line is "correct" and that others must be "won over" to it, while those who disagree are "defeated." (p 252)

It is time to stop allowing people to use race to manipulate.

Let's invite one another in. Maybe then we can begin to fear less, to make fewer wrong assumptions, to let go of the biases and stereotypes that unnecessarily divide us. Maybe we can better embrace the ways we are the same. It's not about being perfect. It's not about where you get yourself in the end. There's power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there's grace in being willing to know and hear others. This, for me, is how we become.

We must learn to judge people, not by their color or race or creed, but rather by their worth as human beings.
