You need to know who you want to be.

To be what you want to be: isn't this the essence of being human?

I want you to be everything that's you, deep at the center of your being.

First, decide who you want to be. This holds at any level — as an individual, as a team, as a community, as a nation. What do you want to stand for? What are your principles and values? Who do you wish to become?

Be resolutely and faithfully what you are; be humbly what you aspire to be.

We want this people to be faithful, and you must learn fidelity. We want this people to be obedient, and you must practice obedience. We want this people to be peace-loving but also courageous, and you must therefore be peace-loving and at the same time courageous. We do not want this people to grow soft, but we want it to be hard so that it will be able to withstand the hardships of life. And for this you have to harden yourselves in your youth. You must learn to be hard, to stand privations without breaking down. We want this people to love honor and you already in the days of your youth must live up to this concept of honor.

Seek to be strong not only physically but also morally.

What do I want my boy to be?
Oft is the question asked of me,
And oft I ask it of myself -
What corner, niche or post or shelf
In the great hall of life would I
Select for him to occupy?
Statesman or writer, poet, sage
Or toiler for a weekly wage,
Artist or artisan? Oh, what
Is to become his future lot?
For him I do not dare to plan;
I only hope he'll be a man.<p>I leave it free for him to choose
The tools of life which he shall use,
Brush, pen or chisel, lathe or wrench,
The desk of commerce or the bench,
And pray that when he makes his choice

Loyal and honest through and through,
He shall be fit for any clan,
And so I hope he'll be a man.

I hope that I can be what you deserve.

I will be what I want. But I will have to want what I'll be. Success is in having success, not conditions for success.

If you ever wish to be something, I wish that you will choose to be you, choose a better version of yourself and not someone else.

What do you want to stand for? What are your principles and values? Who do you wish to become?

This is who I want to be in the world. This is who I think we are supposed to be, people who help call forth human beings from deep inside hopelessness.
