We think freedom means that we can pursue all our desires. Real freedom is letting go of things not wanted, the unchecked desires that leas us to unwanted ends.

Not to do what you feel like doing is freedom

Not to do what you feel like doing is Freedom.

(…) Freedom to do what one likes is really bondage, while being free to do what one must, what is right, is real freedom.

Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

We do, to what extent of freedom we have earned or are allowed by others and ourselves, what we most want to do. We say - speak, paint, carve, write, express ourselves...as we damn please. And in both the doing of things and the talking about them - which together seem to me to sum up life - we so crave freedom or liberty or whatever one may choose to call it as to justify our Declaration's romantically terming it an unalienable right of Man, bestowed on Man by his Creator.

The word "freedom" is rather generic today, and in my mind, sadly, an ill-defined term. Many people think it simply means saying whatever you want and doing whatever you want whenever you want. But true freedom is easy to overlook today. Too many of our fellow citizens are willing to go to the polls and vote away the freedoms of themselves and others simply because they have been convinced of the supposed worthiness of some social goal.

Freedom is not having everything we crave, it's being able to go without the things we crave and being OK with it.

Freedom does not mean doing what you can get away with, doing what you please. It means, instead, having the opportunity to do what you ought to do--for family and for community and for humanity as a whole.

Freedom means you're free to do just whatever pleases you; — if, of course that is to say, what you please is what you may.

Freedom is not being for or against an ideal, but creating your own existence from scratch.

Freedom is the ability to be themselves relative to each other and to the world.

What then is freedom? The power to live as one wishes.
