He who sacrifices his honor for the sake of the Lord, the Lord thereafter cloaks him with the garment of His honor.

What is left when honor is lost?

Honor is like the eye, which cannot suffer the least impurity without damage. It is a precious stone, the price of which is lessened by a single flaw.

(Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and virtue; for thou hast created all things, and by thy will they have their being and were created. – Revelation 4:11)

Honor is due to God and to persons of great excellence as a sign of attestation of excellence already existing; not that honor makes them excellent.

"And in proportion as riches and rich men are honored in the state, virtue and the virtuous are dishonored. "And what is honored is cultivated, and that which has no honor is neglected.

In the meanest mortal there lies something nobler. The poor swearing soldier, hired to be shot, has his "honor of a soldier," different from drill-regulations and the shilling a day. It is not to taste sweet things, but to do noble and true things, and vindicate himself under God's Heaven as a god-made Man, that the poorest son of Adam dimly longs. Show him the way of doing that, the dullest day-drudge kindles into a hero. They wrong man greatly who say he is to be seduced by ease.

Honor is only a label they use for what they want you to do, Chernon. They want you to stay, so they call staying honorable.

A person of honor chooses to loss his honor rather than his consicience

‘Honor’ is a word applied to the actions of men from the past who have had their lives scrubbed clean by historians.

O thou who honourest every art and science,
Who may these be, which such great honour have,
That from the fashion of the rest it parts them?

In this world, there must be a certain degree of honor just as there must be a certain amount of light. When there are many men without honor, there will always be some others who bear in themselves the honor of many men.

To make an action honorable, it ought to be agreeable to the age, and other circumstances of the person; since it is circumstance and proper measure that give an action its character, and make it either good or bad.

God that of His goodness maketh the planets and the elements to work of Kind to the blessed man and the cursed, in that time made withdrawing of it from both; wherefore it was that they that knew Him not were in sorrow that time.
