When giving advice, do so kindly. Do it sincerely with patience. Don't do it to show that you are more intelligent or better than others.

JUSTICE GINSBURG:: If you want to influence people, you want them to accept your suggestions, you don’t say, You don’t know how to use the English language, or how could you make that argument? It will be welcomed much more if you have a gentle touch than if you are aggressive.

Seek to mingle gentleness in all your rebukes; bear with the infirmities of others; make allowance for constitutional frailties; never say harsh things, if kind things will do as well.

More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness

Always try to be a little kinder than is necessary.

It's a little embarrassing that after 45 years of research & study, the best advice I can give people is to be a little kinder to each other.

To be kind, honest and have positive thoughts; to forgive those who harm us and treat everyone as a friend; to help those who are suffering and never to consider ourselves superior to anyone else: even if this advice seems rather simplistic, make the effort of seeing whether by following it you can find greater happiness.

The longer I live, the more I notice how valuable it is to do one simple thing: be kind.

– When someone does a good job, tell them.<br/>– When someone makes a mistake, forgive them.<br/>– When someone tells you their problems, listen.

Being kind barely costs a thing. You'll hardly remember you did it, but the other person may never forget that you did.

Whenever you have a choice between
being right or being kind
be kind. No exceptions. Don’t confuse kindness with weakness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

The problem is taking any one person’s advice too seriously. Ideally, asking advice should be like echolocation. Bounce ideas off of all of your surroundings, and listen to all the echoes to get the whole picture.

Only people with some strength of character can be truly gentle: usually, what seems like gentleness is mere weakness, which readily turns to bitterness.

It is my contention that most people are not mugged every day, that most people in this world do not encounter violence every day. I think we prepare people for violence, and I think it just as important that we prepare people for the definition of being gentle. … for so many years gentle has been equated with weakness but it requires more strength to be gentle. So it's the every day encounters of life that I think we prepare children for and prepare them to be good to other people and to consider other people.
