I hate being the subject of photographs.

Let me be unambiguous. I prefer not to be photographed.

I didn’t want my picture taken because I was going to cry. I didn’t know why I was going to cry, but I knew that if anybody spoke to me or looked at me too closely the tears would fly out of my eyes and the sobs would fly out of my throat and I’d cry for a week. I could feel the tears brimming and sloshing in me like water in a glass that is unsteady and too full.

I didn’t invite anyone to pose for a photo together with me.

Personal publicity of every kind is utterly distasteful to me, and I have made greater efforts to escape it than most people make to get it.

I don't take good pictures 'cause I have the kind of beauty that moves.

I don't like looking at myself in the mirror. I'm not photographing myself. I've never liked to be photographed. I don't like watching my movies.

I don't want my image to appear in the mass media, since it would detract from the project.

I don’t really partake. I don’t go out. I’m just at home mostly, or with my friends, unless I have a film to promote. I don’t like being photographed by people. I find that offensive.

I can't let them see my doubts, or the wounds they've inflicted on me.

I think I'm going to be overexposed after total anonymity.

I shall never write an autobiography, I'm much too jealous of my privacy for that.

I don't like my name appearing on the papal candidate lists.
