To accept something, you must be happy about it, or at least okay with it. You can accept your circumstances (acknowledge they are real) while still disliking them strongly. You don’t have to like everything, but if you want to preserve your sanity, you have to accept whatever comes into your life before you can change it.

Accepting means you allow yourself to feel whatever it is you are feeling at that moment...you can't argue with what is. Well, you can, but if you do, you suffer.

Acceptance is often confused with the notion of being alright or okay with what has happened. This is not the case.

Whatever you accept completely will take you to peace, including the acceptance that you cannot accept, that you are in resistance. (Ch 6)

Acceptance. Acceptance of the impermanence of being. And acceptance of the imperfect nature of being, or possibly the perfect nature of being, depending on how one looks at it. Acceptance that this is not a rehearsal. That this is it.

Not everything is always fine, but you have to learn to live with what's fine and what's not. That's life. Personally, I've learned to appreciate what I have and I'll say: I'm fine, thank God

We will never like this reality or make it okay, but eventually we accept it.

Embrace failure and be ready for it: it will happen at some point, so it just depends on what you do with it.
