The human soul is an abyss

If emptiness is endless, then everything rests in emptiness.

A human soul devoid of longing was a soul deformed, deprived of its highest good, sick unto death.

The soul is undiscovered
though explored forever
to a depth beyond report.

All the possessions in the world cannot fill an empty heart with love.

The mind can never be satisfied.

If there were no emptiness, there would be no life.

It can never be satisfied, the mind, never.

Man finds nothing so intolerable as to be in a state of complete rest, without passions, without occupation, without diversion, without effort.

Then he faces his nullity, loneliness, inadequacy, dependence, helplessness, emptiness.

And at once there wells up from the depths of his soul boredom, gloom, depression, chagrin, resentment, despair.

Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty and then we shall fill you with ourselves.

It is utterly impossible for us, as finite beings, with the utmost stretch of the imagination, to conceive the depth and immensity of the horrors of slavery.

To experience the loneliness of soul is the hardest thing in the world.

You will not discover the limits of the soul
by traveling, even if you wander over every
conceivable path, so deep is its story.
