I believe that this is the time when we youngsters should be more aware of politics than ever before because we have to keep our country in good hands.

Youths need to participate more in politics because decisions made by the leaders will always affect our lives.

Everyone living in a country with elections should care more and do more about choosing their government. It goes beyond voting on election day. The earlier we get involved and the more we participate, the more the outcomes will reflect our will. Join a party. Create a voter group. Raise funds to help future candidates you like.

If you don’t trust your elections, what do you have in this country? I take this responsibility very seriously.

I pledge myself to raise my voice, raise my vote, raise every ounce of strength I have to keep up our struggle and to continue it all-demand that votes get counted, struggle for a set of systems that work, and work to protect Mother Earth.

The deep desire to inspire people, to take an active part in the life of the country … attracts our best people to political life … We should all do something to right the wrongs that we see and not just complain about them. We owe that to our country.

So, let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look over not only ourselves, but each other.

It's not easy, it's not easy. And I couldn't do it if I just didn't, you know, passionately believe it was the right thing to do. You know, I've had so many opportunities from this country, I just don't want to see us fall backwards - no. So - you know, this is very personal for me. It's not just political, it's not just public. I see what's happening, and we have to reverse it. And some people think elections are a game, they think it's like who's up or who's down. It's about our country, it's about our kids' futures, and it's really about all of us together. You know some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds. And we do it, each one of us, because we care about our country. But some of us are right and some of us are wrong, some of us are ready and some of us are not, some of us know what we will do to do on day one and some of haven't really thought that through enough. And so when we look at the array of problems we have and the potential for it getting - really spinning out of control, this is one of the most important elections America's ever faced. So as tired as I am - and I am - and as difficult as it is to try to kind of keep up with what I try to do on the road like occasionally exercise and try to eat right - it's tough when the easiest food is pizza - I just believe so strongly in who we are as a nation. So I'm going to do everything I can to make my case and, you know, then the voters get to decide.

What I want you to take seriously is what we have to do for the youth.

We need to participate in the very process of electing into office people we believe are deserving. And this long process – sometimes viewed as tedious – starts with having yourself registered properly.

Let us go out there and mobilise our members, supporters, the young and the old. To march towards a decisive victory by getting registered as voters

I implore you and the Labor Party to govern like every decision, and every year, matters. Because it really, really does.

It is my duty to make sure that young people hold governments accountable for the implementation of the frameworks they signed up for.

We need to continue to educate our elected officials and candidates for office on who we are, what we need and why they should stand in solidarity with us.
