Which is why I am writing this book. To think. To understand. It just happens to be the way I'm made. I have to write things down to feel I fully comprehend them.

I write to discover what I think.

I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.

I don't know what I think until I write it down.

If I want to understand what moves me, what confuses me, what pains me — everything that makes me react, in short — I have to put it into words.

I write to find out what I'm talking about.

Writing is thinking.

There is no better way to understand something than to write about it.

I wanted to understand.

I crave to be understood because when a person writes about himself, he does not work in obscurity but a little too much in the light which he focuses on himself. To me the satisfaction comes from the fact that at least I have said something about myself in my own voice without ‘paraphrasing any hard truths’.

I do not know what I think until I write it.

I challenge you, try it for a day. Every two hours or so, sit down and write about what you’re thinking at that very moment. Just don’t get scared of yourself. Most of our thoughts make no sense at all.

I must write it all out, at any cost. Writing is thinking. It is more than living, for it is being concious of living.
