It´s natural to want someone you love to do what you want, or what you think would be good for them, but you have to let everything happen to them. You can't interfere with people you love any more than you're supposed to interfere with people you don't even know. And that's hard, ..., because you often feel like interfering -you want to be the one who makes the plans.

“You can’t protect people, kiddo,” Wally said. “All you can do is love them."

Don’t try to force or nag people into doing what you want. Accept that they are free to choose. But you help them choose what you want.

reminder: you can love people and simultaneously not allow them to harm you

It's not that you should never love something so much it can control you. It's that you need to love something that much so you can never be controlled.

If you decide to be with a person, don’t try to change anything about her. Just like your dog or your cat, let her be who she is. She has the right to be who she is; she has a right to be free. When you inhibit your partner’s freedom, you inhibit your own because you have to be there to see what your partner is doing or not doing. And if you love yourself so much, you are never going to give up your personal freedom.

If you want your loved ones to be happy, you must learn to understand their sufferings and their aspirations. When you understand, you will know how to relieve their sufferings and how to help them fulfill their aspirations. That is true love. If you only want your loved ones to follow your own ideas and you remain ignorant of their needs, it is not truly love. It is only a desire to possess another and attempt to fulfill your own needs, which cannot be fulfilled in that way.

I would not seek to force people to live up to my ideals but rather love them into doing the thing that is right.

No matter how much you love someone, you still want to have you own way.

Make sure your relationship is between you and the person you love, no one has power over it, no one has a say over it and people will always talk, we were laughing. People will try and break something that’s beautiful, there’s nothing you can do

Do whatever you want.

When you do, you will make mistakes. At that point, if you are smart, you no longer want it, and begin to slowly course correct toward what you really want. If you always do what others want for you, you will never discover what you want.

The most important thing to do in your life is to not interfere with somebody else's life.

All you should do is what you want to do. If you stop trying to figure out how to do things the way other people want you to do them, you get to listen to the little voice inside your head that wants to do things a certain way. Then, you get to be you.

You can't just sit there and put everyone's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love. You just can't. You have to do things.
