There’s always a trade off between short-term efficiency through exploiting what you already know, and long-term resilience and success through exploring what you don’t yet know or finding out what’s changed.

I though productivity was what survival looked like.

The criterion of efficiency dictates that choice of alternatives which produces the largest result for the given application of resources.

There was Art, and there was survival, and sometimes they were mutually exclusive.

If evolution was worth its salt, it should've evolved something better than "survival of the fittest." I think a better idea would be "survival of the wittiest." At least, that way, creatures that didn't survive could've died laughing.

You chose to live, I chose to die.

Total quality is a matter of survival.

There's a lyric in the middle of the song that says, "I want to decide between survival and bliss." Basically I'm talking about the difference between really being alive and really embracing the reason why I'm here on this earth versus my just being asleep and sleep walking and accepting the status quo and accepting somewhat of a suffering mentality to being here. It really is my responsibility to distinguish the difference between the two and choose which one I want. It's so easy for me to want to not take responsibility for my life and relinquish it and look outside of myself for the answers that I know very well are within me. It's so scary to be silent and it's so scary to go within, until I do it. And once I'm doing it, I just wonder why I wasn't doing this all the time. So that decision to be fully alive is one that is preceded by some pretty intense decisions and some choices and responsibility-taking that at times can be very intimidating, again, before I do it.

I must choose between despair and Energy──I choose the latter.

Sometimes when you have choices that actually makes it harder. But when I knew that I had no choice but to survive. That is when my determination kicked in.

One must, in one's life, make a choice between boredom and suffering.

But you have to choose: live or tell.

To choose time is to save time.

If I were asked to choose between execution and life in prison I would, of course, chose the latter. It’s better to live somehow than not at all.
