The practice of love offers no place of safety. We risk loss, hurt, pain. We risk being acted upon by forces outside our control.

To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

When in love, one must take risks.
