I think I summed up my attitude to philosophy when I said: philosophy ought really to be written only as a poetic composition.

What I write could only be called poetry because there is no other category to put it.

Poetry can be written only because it has been written.

It is poetry to express an entire philosophy in simple words

Poetry is a bad medium for philosophy. Everything in the philosophical poem has to satisfy irreconcilable requirements: for instance, the last demand that we should make of philosophy (that it be interesting) is the first we make of a poem; the philosophical poet has an elevated and methodical, but forlorn and absurd air as he works away at his flying tank, his sewing-machine that also plays the piano.

Philosophy is but sophisticated poetry.

To say that all philosophy is writing is, minimally, to say that it is never the transparent expression of thought.

What I'm saying here is not, I agree, poetry, as poems should be written rarely and reluctantly, under unbearable duress and only with the hope that good spirits, not evil ones, choose us for their instrument.
