Leadership is not about you being a queen or a king, or putting yourself on a pedestal. Leadership is about coming to the ground with the people.

I’ve learned about leadership is that leaders are those individuals who do the things that failures aren’t willing to do — even though they might not like doing them either. They have the discipline to do what they know to be important — and right — versus what’s easy and fun.

Leadership is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence.

Leadership is a matter of intelligence, trustworthiness, humaneness, courage, and sternness.

Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.

Leadership is about integrity, honesty and accountability. All components of trust.

For all human beings, love is a constant preoccupation—a never-ending central theme. Indeed, the ultimate motivation behind interactions among people is often the desire to experience some form of love. The fact that love is so important has major implications for leadership. In particular, the degree to which leaders acknowledge the value of love in their own lives and in the lives of others can determine the success or failure of their undertakings. Far from being irrelevant or impractical, the intention to express love is fundamental for effective leadership. This is so because in the final analysis, a leader’s motivation is communicated to others in countless subtle ways. Leaders whose actions are perceived as self-serving often create disharmony, resentment, and disloyalty. On the other hand, those who base their behavior upon a genuine empathy and concern for others can gain loyalty and support that make the attainment of even difficult goals possible.

Leadership is what you need to learn next

Leadership is for those who love the public good and are endowed and trained to administer it.

I began by reducing my own salary to $ 1.00 a year. Leadership means setting an example. When you find yourself in a position of leadership, people follow your every move. I don’t mean they invade your privacy, although there’s some of that, too. But when the leader talks, people listen. And when the leader acts, people watch. So you have to be careful about everything you say and everything you do.

Leadership is about authenticity and transparency. And being there. Being there as much as you can. There's a fearlessness to it.

Ultimately, leadership is about the strength of one’s convictions, the ability to endure the punches, and the energy to promote an idea.

Leadership is to do what is right by educating and inspiring an electorate, empathizing with the moods, needs, wants, and aspirations of humanity. Making peace is about bringing the teeming conflicts of society to a minimal point of consensus. It is about painting a new vision on the canvas of a nation's political history. Ultimately, leadership is about the strength of one's convictions, the ability to endure the punches, and the energy to promote an idea. And I have found that those who do achieve peace never acquiesce to obstacles, especially those constructed of bigotry, intolerance, and inflexible tradition.

Leadership is all about people. It is not about organizations. It is not about plans. It is not about strategies. It is all about people — motivating people to get the job done. You have to be people centered.
