And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

We're free and clear, Willy. We're free, we're free, we're free...

We shall be free, just as our fathers were.

O victory forget you're underwear we're free.

When the last child cries for a crust of bread;

We shall be free. When the last thing we notice is the color of skin,
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within,
When the skies and the oceans are clean again,
Then we shall be free.

The name of freedom regained is sweet to hear.

And now that we don't have to be good, we can be free.

We are at the end of all our troubles, and at the beginning of happiness

Our freedom is sweet. It will be sweeter when we are all free.

Freedom from suffering is a great happiness.

In a strange way we were free. We'd reached the end of the line. We had nothing more to lose. Our privacy, our liberty, our dignity: all of this was gone and we were stripped down to the bare bones of our selves.

I felt free and therefore I was free.

In alien lands I keep the body
Of ancient native rites and things:
I gladly free a little birdie
At celebration of the spring.

I'm now free for consolation,
And thankful to almighty Lord:
At least, to one of his creations
I've given freedom in this world!
