Be not sick too late, nor well too soon

determined to ask those of heaven to heal me — for I wished, nevertheless, to be well, though I bore my illness with great joy. Sometimes, too, I used to think that if I recovered my health, and yet were lost for ever, I was better as I was. But, for all that, I thought I might serve God much better if I were well. This is our delusion; we do not resign ourselves absolutely to the disposition of our Lord, Who knows best what is for our good.

Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Luck must be dealt with like health: enjoy it when it is good, be patient when it is bad.

the healthy self, however, must always be vigilant against the laziness of the sick self that still lurks within us.

I’m thinking only of my illness and my health, though both, the first as well as the second, are you.

It’s even pleasant to be sick when you know that there are people who await your recovery as they might await a holiday.

When you feel yourself to be in critical condition, you must treat yourself as gently as you would a sick friend.

Never curse an illness; better ask for health.

You may think that you are well, but you will not secure health until you think thoughts that produce health. You may persistently affirm that you are well, but so long as you live in discord, confusion, worry, fear and other wrong states of mind, you will be sick; that is, you will be as you think and not what you think you are. You may state health in your thought, but if you give worry, fear and discord to that thought, your thinking will produce discord. It is not what we state in our thoughts, but what we give to our thoughts that determine results.

Look to your health; and if you have it, praise God, and value it next to a good conscience; for health is the second blessing that we mortals are capable of; a blessing that money cannot buy.

Beware what you wish for, unless you have the grace to hope that your luck can be shared.

As you work hard, don’t forget your health, don’t forget to pause, don’t forget to rest, and don’t forget to show yourself love.
