One of the things women bring to a research project, or indeed any project, is they come from a different place, they've got a different background. Science has been named, developed, interpreted by white males for decades and women view the conventional wisdom from a slightly different angle — and that sometimes means they can clearly point to flaws in the logic, gaps in the argument, they can give a different perspective of what science is.

Half the humans are women, so I think half the scientists should be women - a legacy of my parents.

All science must start with some assumptions as to the ultimate analysis of the facts with which it deals. These assumptions are justified partly by their adherence to the types of occurrence of which we are directly conscious, and partly by their success in representing the observed facts with a certain generality, devoid of ad hoc suppositions.

I have a feeling that if the women of India take to science and interest themselves in the progress and advance of science as well, they will achieve what even men have failed to do. Women have one quality--the quality of devotion. It is one of the most important passports to success in science. Let us therefore not imagine that intellect is a sole prerogative of males only in science.

Science is not that difficult, it’s just a myth, women are as good as men.

The role of women in science continues to be increasingly important particularly in development and also in the advancement of the field. I believe that we as women have a distinct perspective in science. If you look at the role that we've played in the life sciences and also in the medical sciences we have been able to bring women's issues to bear look at the issue of water and sanitizing water women have taken a leadership in this particular room because in African communities in the Kenyan communities water is woman's responsibility and we've been able to push for the fact that we need portable and cleaner water.

Teaching science for a woman is as normal as it is for men, since we both have the capacity.

In the past, core sciences such as physics were regarded as male domains where women were expected to be seen but not heard. People used to think that when you get into these subjects, the characteristics that are most worthily accepted for women including passivity, emotionality, intuition and receptivity would no longer be possessed by that woman.

Women enter the sciences, but "womanliness"—those qualities that have always been stereotypically attributed to females—is not yet entirely welcome, whether it comes into the laboratory wearing pants or a skirt.

The truth is, women in research and science encounter more hardship compared to their male counterparts.

Science, like art, religion, commerce, warfare, and even sleep, is based on presuppositions. It differs, however, from most other branches of human activity in that not only are the pathways of scientific thought determined by the presuppositions of the scientists but their goals are the testing and revision of old presuppositions and the creation of new.

Because men complained less, we made the false assumption that the complaints women experienced were only women’s complaints and, therefore, only women’s problems. Which created the rationale for women’s problems to be solved – or at least addressed – by public policy.

Sciences are important as there are so many untapped opportunities for women. As the saying goes,'educating a girl is educating a whole nation', when girls learn, they know better and with this they are empowered

Evidence has shown that women have the capacity to excel in any field of research provided they have adequate training, enabling environment, and interest.
