We Christians actually cultivate good relations with Hindus, Muslims and other religious groups. We travel together, eat together and live together.

As Apostolic Nuncio I firmly believe that interfaith dialogue is the means to promote good relations among people of different faiths who can discover the beauty of other peoples' faith.

With this joint Easter celebration, we have another occasion to strengthen spiritual solidarity besides Christmas, maintaining good relations among us who belong to different Churches.

We understand one another and we are able to work together for the good of society. Through this dynamic of frequent meetings, in spite of provocations, we are able to maintain peace.

The peaceful coexistence among people of different ethnicities, religions, is so important: we are all brothers, sons, and daughters.

Dialogue could involve sharing with mainlanders Catholic spiritual values. Religious people are working for peace and harmony.

The close relationships in our parishes allow for quick and uncomplicated mutual contact between pastors and laity, so that an intellectual and spiritual exchange has always been, and still is, possible. All those who wish to do so can enter into dialogue with one another, listen to one another, and maintain personal communication about suggestions, wishes, and ideas in everyday Church life.

Religions understand this: they know that to sustain goodness, it helps to have an audience. The faiths hence provide us with a gallery of witnesses at the ceremonial beginnings of our marriages and thereafter they entrust a vigilant role to their deities.

I believe that the words of the Holy Father have been an invitation to moderation, to dialogue, to negotiation to get through the tension and to see, to hope, that there are none of these... acts of revenge.

If nowhere else, in the relation between Church and State, "good fences make good neighbors."

Translation: Let's befriend them so there won't be any conflict.

A harmonious relationship between religion and public life is all the more important at a time when some people have come to consider religion a cause of division rather than a force for unity. In a world threatened by sinister and indiscriminate forms of violence, the unified voice of religious people urges nations and communities to resolve conflicts through peaceful means and with full regard for human dignity.

I am a person who believes in inter-faith dialogue. The tensions and intolerance we see in society today is because there is a declining trend of communication between various religious institutions. We know so less about each other. Communication and dialogue is the only way we can remove this veil of suspicion.

Institutions should focus on educating against clashes of culture and the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peace.
