If you want to see the love of your life, look in the mirror.

You should look into a mirror: if you look fine, do fine things; if you look ugly, correct by nobility the defect of your nature.

Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you'll start to see a big difference in your life.

You must be the mirror, training your mind to try to see yourself as others see you.

You need to find a mirror and ask: Do you love yourself? For you to stick around there must be a problem and it’s okay – we all have problems.

There comes a time when you look into the mirror and you realize that what you see is all that you will ever be. And then you accept it. Or you kill yourself. Or you stop looking in mirrors.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked awful, but I always look awful in the mirror. I keep myself going with the firm belief that my real face is much better looking.

Can you look in the mirror without telling a story about yourself?

Just imagine living in a world without mirrors. You'd dream about your face and imagine it as an outer reflection of what is inside you. And then, when you reached forty, someone put a mirror before you for the first time in your life. Imagine your fright! You'd see the face of a stranger. And you'd know quite clearly what you are unable to grasp: your face is not you.

When we look into a mirror we think the image that confronts us is accurate. But move a millimetre and the image changes. We are actually looking at a never-ending range of reflections. But sometimes a writer has to smash the mirror – for it is on the other side of that mirror that the truth stares at us.

I practiced making faces in the mirror and it would drive my mother crazy. She used to scare me by saying that I was going to see the devil if I kept looking in the mirror. That fascinated me even more, of course.
