People would be happier, and in the long run wealthier, if they bought basic, functional appliances, automobiles, and wristwatches, and invested the money they saved for future consumption; yet, Americans in particular spend almost everything they have — and sometimes more — on goods for present consumption, often paying a large premium for designer names and superfluous features.

It is a wise man’s duty to save himself for to-morrow, and not risk everything on one day.

Don't spend money on things... spend money on experiences. You'll enjoy life a lot more!

It's nice to have a lot of money, but you know, you don't want to keep it around forever. I prefer buying things. Otherwise, it's a little like saving sex for your old age.

The less you are, the less you express your life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life and the greater is the saving of your alienated being.

And I say again, you need not worry any more about money. If I were to drop dead this instant, I have enough to double your present income if you never touched a cent of the principle. If you take a notion to do something that costs more than your income warrants, you need only let me know. You can have it.
