The belief that women are discriminated against in the workplace reinforces a couple's tendency to have the woman stay at home. It is the tendency for women to stay at home that makes the workplace value her less. then, shortly after she is married, it begins to make sense for her to move for her husband's career, not for her husband to move for her career. Conversely, it makes sense for them to invest in his medical, law, or engineering degree--rather than hers... ironically, then, a reality has been created from a false reality. And, ironically, women's careers are hurt via comments meant to prod a society into helping women's careers. The road to hell is paved...

The more satisfied a person is with her position, the less likely she is to leave.3 So the irony — and, to me, the tragedy — is that women wind up leaving the workforce precisely because of things they did to stay in the workforce. With the best of intentions, they end up in a job that is less fulfilling and less engaging. When they finally have a child, the choice — for those who have one — is between becoming a stay-at-home mother or returning to a less-than-appealing professional situation.

as for the possibility of “having it all,” career and family, with no sacrifice to either, that is a myth we would do well to abandon, together with the pernicious notion that a woman who chooses one or the other is somehow deficient. To say that a stay-at-home mom has betrayed her potential is no less absurd than to suggest that a woman who puts career first is somehow less a woman.

If the wife works, the husband's rights are not fulfilled, if the wife works, the child's rights are not fulfilled, if the wife works, her charm is lost, if the wife works, the family is destroyed, if the wife works, the veil is destroyed, if the wife works, the society is destroyed. A husband who says to his wife - My wife does not need to work. I will feed you what I get, she is his queen. Now she wants to be a servant instead of a queen. In fact, the wife did not understand the status of her husband, the wife did not understand her own status. Home is a world. There are numerous tasks. Today the main reason for unemployment of boys is - girls are coming forward, boys are not getting any jobs. Giving a job to a son benefits the whole family. (Therefore, mothers and sisters should obey their husbands and stay at home in order to protect their self-esteem and remain in the queen's house. Therefore, mothers and sisters should stay at home and serve their husbands and children without losing the Hereafter by going to earn the world. Insha'Allah, may Allah grant Tawfeek. . Amen.)

A 2011 McKinsey report noted that men are promoted based on potential, while women are promoted based on past accomplishments.14 In addition to the external barriers erected by society, women are hindered by barriers that exist within ourselves. We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in. We internalize the negative messages we get throughout our lives — the messages that say it’s wrong to be outspoken, aggressive, more powerful than men. We lower our own expectations of what we can achieve. We continue to do the majority of the housework and child care. We compromise our career goals to make room for partners and children who may not even exist yet. Compared to our male colleagues, fewer of us aspire to senior positions.

Many women with a degree give up their academic career when they get married. They start a family and feel pressure from their family and society to stay at home and look after the children. Support from other women in the academic world may be decisive to them continuing their career.

Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anyway.

Most professional women can recount ‘horror stories’ about discrimination they have suffered during their careers. My stories include social trivia as well as grand trauma. But some less common forms of discrimination came my way when, in mid-career, I married a colleague and we joined our professional lives just as fame (though not fortune) hit him. I watched as he was manufactured into an architectural guru before my eyes and, to some extent, on the basis of our joint work and the work of our firm.

When divorces meant marriage no longer provided security for a lifetime, women adjusted by focusing on careers as empowerment. But when the sacrifice of a career met the sacrifices in a career, the fantasy of a career became the reality of trade-offs. Women developed career ambivalence.

Many women stay in job or remain in a toxic environment because they are scared. My message to them is do not sell out who they are in exchange for safety. It takes courage to move because it takes you outside your comfort zone, especially the first time you do it. However, you will soon realise that your world does not collapse when you find the courage to change and get off the hamster wheel.

It’s the single most important career decision a woman makes: Is she going to have a life partner, and is that partner going to support her career? And by "support," I mean getting up in the middle of the night half the time to change diapers.
