The result justifies the deed

I think the old, sound, and honest maxim that "you shall not do evil that good may come," is applicable in law as well as in morals.

If any one hearken with understanding to these sayings of mine many a deed worthy of a good man shall he perform and many a foolish deed be spared.

Whatever shall be to the advantage of all, may that prevail!

May the Almighty grant that the cause of truth, justice, and humanity shall in no wise suffer at my hands.

Thank God justice has prevailed I have been vindicated.

When a man's cause is good, it will sufficiently plead for itself, yea, and for its master too.

You see, maybe all these feelings come about because one side wants to liberate itself with arms. But in my opinion, it is the good that prevails. You may live to see the day when good prevails — it will be after I am dead. But the time will come when my weapons will be no more used or necessary.

But if a good heart, a good intention, a subjective conviction are declared to be the sources from which actions derive their worth, then there is no longer any hypocrisy or evil at all; for whatever someone does, he can always turn it into something good through reflecting on his good intentions and motives, and so the moment of his convictions renders it good.

So, lest I be inclined To render ill for ill,— Henceforth in me instil, O God, a sweet good-will
To all mankind.

In my writing, as much as I could, I tried to find the good, and praise it.
