The lesson for business is that we need founders. If anything, we should be more tolerant of founders who seem strange or extreme; we need unusual individuals to lead companies beyond mere incrementalism.

We need tolerant men. We must all give in a little.

Perhaps it isn't that responsible people become founders but that the act of founding makes the person responsible.

We do not find it hard to bear with ourselves, though we are full of faults. Why then may we not learn to be tolerant of others?

I think the best founders have a deep understanding of the space they’re going into, enough to be contrarian. They have a deep passion for it, so they’ll just keep working on it. They have execution skills. They just get things done.They solve problems. They’re capable.

Some of the most successful founders start out tentative and lukewarm. Especially the young ones, who are often far from certain they want to run a startup. As they should be, because it's not for everyone, and they don't know yet what they like.

In our era, it is not enough to be tolerant. You tolerate mosquitoes in the summer, a rattle in an engine, the gray slush that collects at the crosswalk in winter. You tolerate what you would rather not have to deal with and wish would go away. It is no honor to be tolerated. Every spiritual tradition says love your neighbor as yourself, not tolerate them.

It seems to me that people of talent and of genius serve better than average examples for making us understand the laws of character, because they present more extreme traits.

We must work harder to build mutual respect, an attitude of tolerance, with forbearance one for another.

Tolerance is good, but not with the intolerant.

Understanding how DNA makes us who we are will teach us to be more tolerant of each other.

Let us keep courage and try to be patient and gentle. And let us not mind being eccentric, and make distinction between good and evil.

They don’t appear to be the best but whatever happens we must have the patience and spirit of tolerance because we will not ask people to go and riot.

Inherent to Founder Mode is the courage to be disliked. For a founder, the mission, customer and product reigns supreme. Effective leadership is not about making everyone at your company happy or producing the average of everyone’s opinions. It’s about doing what’s right.
