The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.

And especially if it's from the heart. When people are talking, there's no need to do anything but receive them. Just take them in. Listen to what they're saying. Care about it. Most times caring about it is even more important than understanding it.

When we're connected to others, we become better people.

Just tell people stories, try and find out who they are, try and find something that links you with them.

Our ability to connect with others is innate, wired into our nervous systems, and we need connection as much as we need physical nourishment.

do not heal in isolation. Connecting with others is how we develop compassion for others and for ourselves.

Connection is why we’re here. We are hardwired to connect with others, it’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering.

Humans are not by nature solitary. They need to connect with other human beings to share dreams and fears, to lean on each other, to enhance each other.

I’ve learned that even people who are — who see the world differently from you, they love something. And if we take the time to share what we love with one another, we can see each other’s humanity, and we can feel each other’s value. And if we can connect in a real way, that’s what we need to accompany each other, because some of what is going to be asked is that you just let me be. You know. As relocation and all of this stuff happens, some people are going to choose something other than what you would choose.

Connecting with others during difficult times makes the trials more bearable.

Connect. Embrace. Liberate. Love somebody. Just one person. And then spread that to two. And as many as you can. You'll see the difference it makes.

Being open and honest about what you like is the best way to connect with people who like those things, too.

The message of Scripture is that God wants us to connect both with Him and also with each other.
