A mother, who is really a mother, is never free.

All men — even, I have written, Jesus Christ — began as flecks of tissue inside a woman's womb. Every boy must stagger out of the shadow of a mother goddess, whom he never fully escapes.

Her mother had once told her that there were men who kept secrets bottled up inside and that it spelled trouble for the women who loved them.

I’m saying that men go from control by their mothers to control by their wives, and this is the horror of men’s lives. And feminism refuses to see this.

Men who are not free always idealize their bondage.

The male is just a bundle of conditioned reflexes, is incapable of a mentally free response, is tied to his early conditioning, is determined completely by his past experiences. His earliest experiences are with his mother, and he is throughout his life tied to her. It never becomes completely clear to the male that he is not part of his mother, that he is him and she is her.

A woman living with her mother has limited freedom; a man living with his mother has limited freedom and limited respect. For most men, the vacuum (of no support system) is so devastating, they’d rather agree with their wife than express their feelings and risk emotional withdrawal.

It’s true that a child belongs to its father. But when a father beats his child, it seeks sympathy in its mother’s hut. A man belongs to his fatherland when things are good and life is sweet. But when there is sorrow and bitterness he finds refuge in his motherland. Your mother is there to protect you. She is buried there. And that is why we say that mother is supreme.

Mom’s got this secret fear that if you don’t control your life, if you don’t control your man, he will eventually destroy you.

A man is free to go up as high as he can reach up to; but I, with all my style and pep, can't get a man my equal because a girl is always judged by her mother.

All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.

None can be free who is a slave to, and ruled by, his passions.

Under patriarchy, every woman's son is her potential betrayer and also the inevitable rapist or exploiter of another woman.

A man who catches History's eye is thereafter bound to a mistress from whom he will never escape.
