The future will soon be a thing of the past.

What seems to us serious, significant and important will, in future times, be forgotten or won’t seem important at all.

There's no present. There's only the immediate future and the recent past.

How can the past and future be, when the past no longer is, and the future is not yet? As for the present, if it were always present and never moved on to become the past, it would not be time, but eternity.

After a certain point, the past becomes irrelevant.

Let each of us examine his thoughts; he will find them wholly concerned with the past or the future. We almost never think of the present, and if we do think of it, it is only to see what light is throws on our plans for the future. The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.

Can one make the future a substitute for the present? And what guarantee have we that the future will be any better if we neglect the present?

Let each one examine his thoughts, and he will find them all occupied with the past and the future. We scarcely ever think of the present; and if we think of it, it is only to take light from it to arrange the future. The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means; the future alone is our end. [78] So we never live, but we hope to live; and, as we are always preparing to be happy, it is inevitable we should never be so.

We must look upon what is to occur as having already occurred, and see nothing but the present in the future, for the future is but the present a little farther on.

It is obvious: The past was once the future and the future will become the past.

The past, the present, and the future are really one: they are today

The Future is, of all things, the thing least like eternity. It is the most temporal part of time — for the Past is frozen and no longer flows, and the Present is all lit up with eternal rays.

the future is a concept — it doesn’t exist There is no such thing as tomorrow There never will be because time is always now. That’s one of the things we discover when we stop talking to ourselves and stop thinking. We find there is only present, only an eternal now.
