Doing things we know how to do well is enjoyable, and that’s exactly the opposite of what deliberate practice demands…. Deliberate practice is above all an effort of focus and concentration. That is what makes it “deliberate,” as distinct from the mindless playing of scales or hitting of tennis balls that most people engage in.

Deliberate practice requires conscious effort and attention toward specific and challenging goals. Habits are your current self; deliberate practice is focused striving toward your desired Future Self. Reverting to habits or your comfort zone isn’t how you advance.

Living consciously involves being genuine; it involves listening and responding to others honestly and openly; it involves being in the moment.

The whole of life should be a process of deliberation to choose the right course. Reflection and foresight provide the means of living in anticipation.

To live lightheartedly but not recklessly; to be gay without being boisterous; to be courageous without being bold; to show trust and cheerful resignation without fatalism — this is the art of living.

Deliberate with caution, but act with decision; and yield with graciousness, or oppose with firmness.

Choose to live by choice not by chance.

I believe that I should live a conscious life. That I should be quiet regularly so that the noise of life does not determine who I am and where I am going. I want to be aware of where I can still grow, where I can contribute, and where I can make a difference

I believe a desirable future depends on our deliberately choosing a life of action over a life of consumption, on our engendering a lifestyle which will enable us to be spontaneous, independant, yet related to each other, rather than maintaining a lifestyle which only allows us to produce and consume.

Living virtuously is equal to living in accordance with one's experience of the actual course of nature

Real living is living for others.

You have to remain calm. You can’t make precipitous decisions. You just have to sit down and be very thoughtful and deliberative in everything you say and do.
