stability is now a liability, we need plasticity. for thousands of years, success meant creating stability (i.e. building walls, storing grain). with AI, stability is death. success will be rapid adaptation which humans are very good at (though makes them very grumpy).

addiction is the dominant control structure of our late stage capitalism. the smartest algorithms in history are not designed to help us solve problems or become better, they are designed to hijack our reward systems and make us worse and miserable. a species that cannot resist dopamine hijacking cannot align itself and with a superintelligence.

Self destructive behavior is our species' Achilles' heel. We are the only species that actively engineers its own demise.

We can overcome this. It's necessary for our survival.

My self destructive behaviors are at an all-time low. I just don't do things anymore that unnecessarily cause me to die.

It took years to get here. Occasionally my mind still suggests a debaucherous act, but it’s quickly shot down. The math doesn't work. The aftermath is misery.

I'm hopeful about the future because culture is shifting. Health is becoming high status. It a useful and powerful currency. Health isn't just our bodies but society, our planet, and our technology.

Self destruction is looking increasingly foolish and low status. This shift will accelerate and eventually existence itself will become the highest virtue.

The weekend is for debauchery.

This is a bad idea that took hold in culture.
It’s a terrible thing to have in your life.
Leaves you feeling fatigued and mood distraught.

It’s an understandable reaction to the world.
Our food makes us feel terrible.
We’re on 24/7.
Never enough sleep.
Social media is psychologically complicated.
Escapism is an understandable result.

Debauchery will make things worse. Not better.

The most insidious part: it subtracts from your essence.
It makes your consciousness smaller.
It dulls your senses.
It mangles your mood and life outlook.

What you can do:
1. Start social events 5-7 pm. Just as much fun.
2. Pre-commit to avoid bad foods.
3. Plan out what you’ll eat.
4. Identify when you’ll go to bed.
5. Write out the specific behaviors that get you and make a plan to not fall into the same trap.

You know this is all true.
You know you feel best when minding your health.
And feel shitty when you don’t.

Culture is shifting.
Be ahead of the curve.
Earn your own self respect.
And feel great.
