I think sometimes we can disagree with the facts ... But our intention is never to lie to you.

Non-fiction can distort; facts can be realigned. But fiction never lies.

Oh, they never lie. They dissemble, evade, prevaricate, confound, confuse, distract, obscure, subtly misrepresent and wilfully misunderstand with what often appears to be a positively gleeful relish and are generally perfectly capable of contriving to give one an utterly unambiguous impression of their future course of action while in fact intending to do exactly the opposite, but they never lie. Perish the thought.

Sometimes you hear a person speak the truth and you know that they are speaking the truth. But you also know that they have not heard themselves, do not know what they have said: do not know that they have revealed much more than they have said. This may be why the truth remains, on the whole, so rare.

People lie. Auras never lie.

The man of the Midi does not lie, he deceives himself. He does not always speak the truth but he believes he speaks it.

There are always tales and there is always a patriotic refusal to disbelieve, even though the tales are never in the least credible and are never believed by anyone not of the world that produces them.

The truth exists, but we can never know if it is what we are saying.

Truth can remain silent. Lies must be spoken.

You must never believe everything they say about a person. Generally speaking, most of it will be lies, half-truths at best.
