You'll understand when you've forgotten what you understood before

Yet, even now, ever time (often) that I find that I don't understand something, then instinctively, I'm filled with the hope that perhaps this will be my moment again, perhaps once again I shall understand nothing, I shall grasp that other knowledge, found and lost in an instant.

Not being understood may be taken as a sign that there is much in one to understand.

Sometimes I think I understand everything — then I regain consciousness.

Whenever we proceed from the known into the unknown we may hope to understand, but we may have to learn at the same time a new meaning of the word 'understanding.

As understanding deepens, the further removed it becomes from knowledge.

Understanding means throwing away your knowledge.

But I still couldn't figure out what it all meant. The more I found out, the less I understood.

Sometimes, the greatest sign of growth is prioritizing rest and wellness, saying no, feeling more deeply, and expressing it more loudly. What can seem as though it is your unraveling is sometimes your rebalancing.

The majority of men in every generation, even those who, as it is described, devote themselves to thinking, live and die under the impression that life is simply a matter of understanding more and more, and that if it were granted to them to live longer, that life would continue to be one long continuous growth in understanding. How many of them ever experience the maturity of discovering that there comes a critical moment where everything is reversed, after which the point becomes to understand more and more that there is something which cannot be understood.
