What is passion? Passion is a strong emotion — emotion is an energy, which propels us to commit to ourselves. If we need to achieve anything or get somewhere in life, we need to clearly have a focal point and go after it with all we’ve got. Whatever we do, we must put our hearts into it. If we put our hearts into it, it will open new opportunities. People say, ‘If I had a better job, I would put my heart into it.’ It is an illusion. That’s why people do a half day’s job and collect a full day’s salary. No wonder, they do not get anywhere in life. Trying to motivate people who lack passion is like resurrecting someone from the dead. It’s like putting in all your energy to inflate a balloon with a hole in it; no matter how much sweat you put in to blow it up, it will not go up. You inflate, they deflate, you inflate they deflate!

Work ethic is giving great effort to complete a task. Passion is giving great energy to progress an ideal.

Your passion gives you determination to keep working hard and also makes what you're doing fun, since it's something you love.

The desire for the cool job that you’re passionate about is a particularly modern and bourgeois phenomenon — and, as we’ll see, a means of elevating a certain type of labor to the point of desirability that workers will tolerate all forms of exploitation for the “honor” of performing it. The rhetoric of “Do you what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life” is a burnout trap. By cloaking the labor in the language of “passion,” we’re prevented from thinking of what we do as what it is: a job, not the entirety of our lives.

What I learned is that passion is like a great thing. But it's great because it actually just allows you to do all the hard work that you actually need to do to become really great at what you do. Because it's not like passion is going to be what you need to then put into the actual work. But if you have that PASSION that it doesn't feel like you're putting in so much hard work, it's just more like you're just doing something that you love.

Be very careful to follow your passion do what you love because it’s hard work.
