Another sign of the learned man of the hereafter is that he keeps himself distant from the ruling authorities and avoids their company, because this world is sweet, ever-new and its bridle is in their hands. He who comes near them is not free from their pleasures and harms. They are mostly unjust and do not obey the advices of the learned men. The learned man who frequents them will look to their grandeurs and then think God's gift upon him as insignificant. To keep company with the rulers is the key to evils.

Wealth and property are the servants of body which is the vehicle of soul of which the essence is knowledge and for which there is honor of soul.

ثم تفكرت في نیتي في التدریس فإذا هي غیر خالصة لوجه الله تعالى ، بل باعثهاومحركها طلب الجاه وانتشار الصیت ؛ فتیقنت أني على شفا جُرُف هار ، وأني قدأشفیت على النار ، إن لم أشتغل بتلافي الأحوال.

إعلم أيها الحريص المقبل على إقتباس العلم، المظهر من نفسه صدق الرغبة، وفرط التعطش إليه أنك إن كنت تقصد بالعلم المنافسة، والمباهاة، والتقدم على الأقران، واستمالة وجوه الناس إليك، وجمع حطام الدنيا؛ فأنت ساع في هدم دينك، وإهلاك نفسك، وبيع آخرتك بدنياك؛ فصفقتك خاسرة، وتجارتك بائرة، ومعلمك معين لك على عصيانك، وشريك لك في خسرانك، وهو كبائع سيف لقاطع طريق.

ويجب علي كل مَن لا يقف على كنه هذه المعاني وحقيقتها ولم يعرف تأويلها والمعني المراد به أن يقر بالعجز، فإن التصديق واجب وهو عن دركه عاجز فإن ادعى المعرفة فقد كذب.

الدليل على أن مذهب السلف هو الحق: أن نقيضه بدعة، والبدعة مذمومة وضلالة.

A person of good character is he who is modest, says little, causes little trouble, speaks the truth, seeks the good, worships much, has few faults, meddles little, desires the good for all, and does good works for all. He is compassionate, dignified, measured, patient, content, grateful, sympathetic, friendly, abstinent, and not greedy. He does not use foul language, nor does he exhibit haste, nor does he harbor hatred in his heart. He is not envious. He is candid, well-spoken, and his friendship and enmity, his anger and his pleasure are for the sake of God Most High and nothing more.

فالكِبر والعُجب داءان مهلكان، والمتكبّر والمعجب سقيمان مريضان، وهما عند الله ممقوتان بغيضان

آداب الوالد مع أولاده: يعينهم على بره ولا يكلفهم من البر فوق طاقتهم ولا يلح عليهم في وقت ضجرهم ولا يمنعهم من طاعة ربه ولا يمن عليهم بتربيته.
